Class Experience

This class is an introduction to filmmaking, so no experience is necessary. Students will learn one of the most fundamental aspects of making a captivating film: Mise En Scene. We'll discuss the definition of this filmmaking theory, see a few examples of the theory in practice, and play a few games that will help us understand these concepts.

Every class starts with a game related to the lesson. This gets students warmed up and ready to get creative. Then, we dive into the lesson by conducting a discussion and watching some curated YouTube videos. I love to ask my students questions that get their gears moving. I also like to show my students the reality of filmmaking and that it takes hard work to complete a project.

At the end of class, we will play another game that will help them understand the concept of Mise En Scene.

Supply List
Students need to be seen on camera in class, so a webcam is required. Your child doesn't need to own a camera or smartphone--but it wouldn't hurt to bring one to class. I always recommend that my students take notes if they want.
