Do you ever feel brave, impatient, ecstatic, or relaxed? We all struggle to know how we feel at times. When we say we feel “fine” or “ok” we miss out on essential emotional information that can help us navigate the world. Emotion scientists approach emotions with questions rather than judgments. They are ready to identify and understand their feelings and manage them confidently. Research has shown that the better kids can understand and communicate their feelings, the more successful they are socially and academically. This class is a fun and interactive exploration of emotions. We will learn to ask questions and use tools to help make feelings work to our advantage. This private class is an adaptation of my Emotion Scientist class. Each lesson is adapted to the developmental level and needs of the learner. Contact me for other scheduled times or other social-emotional topics. Class Schedule: Lesson 1: What are emotions? & How am I feeling? Let's train our brains! Learn about emotions and how to recognize and label them using a mood meter. Lesson 2-What am I feeling? Our bodies communicate how we feel. Let’s follow the clues! Learn to recognize how emotions can feel in the body. We will learn how feelings can change and get mixed up at times. Learn how to stop, calm, and think to make better choices. Lesson 3-What happened? There is a reason for all those feelings. Let's figure out the why! This class will use stories and common everyday situations to practice labeling emotions and to develop an understanding of the causes and consequences of emotions. Lesson 4-How do I manage my big emotions? Let's use the strategies and skills that work! Learn to choose how you show your emotions and how to respond to challenging moments.
