This class can serve as an introduction or a refresher of the exponent rules for your learner. I will show the learners how to figure out the rules by expanding simple expressions. The main challenge students face in simplifying exponential expressions is keeping the different rules straight. Once the students understand how to derive the rules, they no longer have to rely on memory. We will also work practice problems that use a single rule and more challenging problems that combine...
Students will learn how to correctly simplify exponential expressions.
I have a masters degree in Biomedical Engineering. I have experience teaching math at the community college level.
At the end of the class, students will be given a worksheet of practice problems including basic and challenge level. They have the option to turn it in within a week of finishing the class for teacher feedback.
Learners should have paper and pencil to take notes and work problems during class. A practice worksheet will be provided at the end of class.
If requested, a grade can be given on the optional homework.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
