The Importance of Cultural Relativism and Cultural Relativism in Early Learning Environments This training will have an in-depth understanding of the concepts of cultural relativism and self-identity theory. Understanding the significance of these two theories and applying these theories in childcare settings will form collaborative, multicultural, and identity safe learning environments. Alongside, students, babysitters and/or professional childcare sitters, and all others will identify and examine bias, stereotypes, prejudices,and learn about ethnocentrism and how these negative stigmas affect young learners and people. Moreover,students will examine how these stigmas negatively affect children from diverse groups different from the dominant culture in our society. This course will empower the minds of students This topic is necessary and very relevant in our society today. This is a powerful class that will empower you and you will in turn educate and empower others around you.
Learning Goals
Trainees will have a more culturally sensitive perspective about the children, families, and individuals served on a daily basis.
Trainees will understand the impact of their choices, ideology, teaching methods, communication, and relationships created from their sense of cultural relativism and respecting social identity in academic settings.
Trainees will be able to design a fulfilling and meaningful learning experience promoting multicultural learning and guiding for children in understanding “self” for a holistic learning experience.
