Welcome to the Psychology 101 course designed to introduce middle and high school students to the fascinating world of psychology. In this 12-week journey, we will explore the intricacies of human behavior, the workings of the brain, and how these factors affect our daily lives. From mood disorders to sleep patterns, you'll gain valuable insights into the fascinating field of psychology. Week 1: Introduction to Psychology Week 2: The Brain and Nervous System Week 3: Sensation and Perception Week 4: Learning and Memory Week 5: Developmental Psychology Week 6: Social Psychology Week 7: Emotions and Stress Week 8: Mood Disorders Week 9: Anxiety and Related Disorders Week 10: Sleep and Dreams Week 11: Personality Psychology Week 12: Wrap-Up and Review Course Goals: -Understand the fundamental concepts of psychology. -Explore the brain's role in behavior and cognition. -Examine how sensory perception and learning shape our experiences. -Investigate human development, social interactions, and emotions. -Gain insights into common psychological disorders and strategies for coping. -Discover the significance of sleep and dreams. -Explore the theories and assessment of personality. This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to psychology, empowering students to better understand themselves and the world around them. It encourages critical thinking and opens the door to further exploration of the captivating field of psychology. Throughout the class, I will still be providing timely encouragement, guidance, and feedback to learners. I will also be available for any questions that may arise. For the lessons, I will be using a PowerPoint format and video content to teach information.

Parental Guidance
The intention of the class is not to elicit reports of personal experiences with mental health from learners. This class will not be taught as therapy or group therapy. If the learner begins to share any personal mental health concerns I will kindly ask the learner to refrain from further discussion in front of the class and to continue the conversation with a trusted adult. If a learner ever shares something that is concerning, I will reach out to parents after class depending on the context of the information
