Affixes are additional elements placed at the beginning or end of a root to stem to modify its meaning. In this one-time course, students will gain a better understanding of affixes (prefix and suffixes) which will ultimately give them an advantage when encountering new vocabulary words. Learners will be introduced to each component and the meaning of over 20 prefixes and many suffixes. The affixes will be shown in conjunction with root words so that students can evaluate all the combined elements as a new word. Students will also receive a note-taking page, a take-away and they will be given an opportunity to play a game to review the material.

Learners will practice using prefixes, roots, and affixes.

Supply List
The teachers will supply all materials for the learners. It will be posted in the Outschool Classroom.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
