Class Experience

Welcome Detectives! Ready to put your detective skills to work? You've been assigned the task of staying at a cabin where a lot of people have gone disappearing. When you and your team arrived at the cabin you were all locked inside! The culprit does not want you to figure out who they are. Now your team must figure out who the culprit is, find the missing people, and a way to get out of the cabin!

Course Overview: Participants will follow a fictional story transforming them into detectives attempting to escape a cabin they've been locked into. Participants will work together solving riddles, looking for keys, fixing things, and figuring out codes to escape

How does this virtual escape room work?

There are three parts to this escape room. Each part has a time limit and a task (such as figuring out a number code). If the tasks are not complete within their time limit, I will give students the answer, and we'll move on to the next part. The first 3 minutes of our session will be spent talking about class expectations and doing a small icebreaker. Then, the next 5 minutes will be spent going over what a virtual escape room is and how our escape room will work. Finally, we will spend the rest of the session on the actual Escape room :)

Note - I will guide the whole session. We will do the escape room together to avoid disorganization. However, I will not be helping students as much as guiding them through the process. The session is meant to last 45minutes. Depending on the class size and how quickly students solve the escape room, we may go over the time or finish a bit earlier than expected.

Hello! Thank you for considering me :)

My name is Stephanie.

My background:

I have a bachelor's degree in education from the university of Houston-Downtown in Texas, and a TEFL certification. I have been on Outschool for the past three years and worked with students ranging from 3-18 years of age. I used to work with two different ESL Companies, as well as a therapy clinic for children with autism and ADHD. I teach English, Spanish, and other topics that I am passionate about.

What I do:

I have specialized in the art of creating/running escape rooms. I enjoy tying these escape rooms with educational topics! They help students build their social skills, critical/logical thinking skills, and confidence. Plus, students get the opportunity to learn and talk about topics they love!

What I believe in:

I believe that encouragement, patience, and freedom of expression are essential in every classroom. It's no secret that students learn differently, and that education is the key to the future. So, I want to make sure every student is comfortable in class, has their needs met, and has an equal opportunity to speak/participate!

How I got into education:

My journey in becoming a teacher began when I was a lot younger and would babysit my neighbors' kids. I often helped them out with their homework assignments and slowly realized that I enjoyed doing so. I had always been told by my peers and my family that I should consider being a teacher but, I had never given it a second thought until my senior year of high school when I had a fantastic teacher who completely changed my life. From that moment, I was inspired to become a teacher and do the same for others.

I look forward to positively impacting your child :)

Some things I love:

• I love to read! (Some of my favorite books include Harry potter and Wings of fire)
• I love video games! (Especially Nintendo games!)
• My Favorite movie is "Encanto"

Thanks for reading, I am excited to see you in class!!!
