Description
Class Experience
Students will use questioning words (who, what, when, where, why, how) to gain a better understanding of a photo or text; including key details. Students will also write a description paragraph based on a mermaid photo using a graphic organizer. Students will identify compound words and how they are formed.
Most of the work will be completed in class, however, students may need to complete a writing assignment or prepare their graphic organizer for the next class meeting.
Students will need lined paper to complete the descriptive paragraph in the second class. I will also send a google slides link with digital/printable sources to supplement this course. You are not required to print these resources off, but you are welcome to if your child would prefer a hard copy. The resources include: graphic organizer, writing prompt, and rubric. I will make them editable so that your child can also type in these. If your child would rather type their paragraph instead of writing it, there will be an option for that as well.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The learner's writing will be assessed by a rubric. A Kahoot quiz covering learning objectives will also be used to gauge student understanding.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use www.kahoot.com in our third and final class.
