In this class we will talk about ocean animals and look at a variety of interesting slides about them. Using wax crayons, students will then learn how to draw a variety of ocean creatures in a step-by-step manner, such as fish, sea turtles, squid, crab and others. They will then learn how to apply a wash with liquid watercolour paint for surprising results! It would be helpful for students to know how to draw basic shapes. My teaching style is interactive. I offer gentle on-going feedback and encourage students to share their work.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
Thanks for visiting my page. My name is Anna and I am living in the beautiful town of Cloyne, Ontario. I am an artist and homeschool mom of two very energetic boys aged 5 and 9.
I have a BFA from York University, where I also obtained my Education degree. I have taught high school level Art and English courses for over five years for the YRDSB. I have also taught at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Since having my own kids, I have pursued and completed my qualifications to teach in the Primary grades.
I love to teach art making, art history, as well as literature and poetry. There is so much joy in learning. I am glad to have this community to both contribute to and learn from. I believe that kids learn best when they are pursuing their interests and when the love for reading and creativity is developed and fostered. Children also learn best when they feel heard and cared for. The right teacher can make a world of difference to your child!
Fun fact: I have an African Grey parrot named Phoebe. She says "Hi honey" in the mornings. I also have a cockapoo dog named Sophie. Phoebe likes to trick Sophie by calling her!
