Class experience

DISCLAIMER: I am not a therapist and I don't have a degree in psychology, However, I have spent over 15 years working with teens and young girls in ministry and also teaching classes for young girls and teens at summer camp on finding your self worth and qualities of a good friend. I enjoy working with this age group and helping girls realize their value and potential. Although I have worked with teens through youth ministry at church, this class will take a secular approach to the character trait topics in class, and discussion will be moderated by me.

This course is designed to offer young girls and early "tweens" a safe place to be themselves and build community. Discussions will be student led, but I will serve as a facilitator to ensure our conversations remain on track and appropriate. As an educator in the school system, I see a HIGH need for students, especially girls, to find a place where they can build relationships and talk with girls who may be experiencing similar situations. Navigating and escaping the mean girl mentality is hard, but finding others who understand and a sisterhood to grow with will hopefully make these difficult years easier to navigate. We will discuss weekly how we can exude these character qualities and face each day with GRIT and GRACE.
One girl: A leader's guide for planning events, retreats, and small groups (Claudia Mitchell and Kim Goad)
Deal with it: A 12 week study on Teenage girls' anger (Mary Huebner)
Girls who Grew up Great: A book of encouragement for girls about amazing women to dared to dream (Gwendolyn Gray)
Mean Girls: Facing your beauty turned beast (Haley Dimarco)
