Unconventional Mixed Media Art: Making Dandelion Chicks in the Grass
Class experience
Students will use dandelions, grass, and yellow, orange, and black markers to create a picture of chicks in the grass on paper. We will talk about the colors and shapes we use to make the different parts of the chicks, including circles, ovals, and triangles. We will discuss Springtime and animals and plants that can be found in the spring. Students will get to share what their favorite thing is about Spring. Students will be able to identify the colors green, yellow, orange, and black. Students will be able to identify circles, ovals, and triangles. Students will be able to identify at least one thing about Spring. Students will be able to count by 1s to 4. Students will be able to count by 2s to 8.
You will need the following: 1 of each: yellow, orange, and black washable markers. 1-2 handfuls of grass. 8-10 dandelions in full bloom. 1-2 sheets of white printer paper. A table to work on. Disposable hand wipes (optional). Paper towels (optional). Smock or apron (optional). *Note: If you are unable to get grass and dandelions, your learners may use yellow and green markers, crayons, or colored pencils instead. If you are unable to get many of these materials, your learner is welcome to attend and participate in the discussion!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
