Class Experience

In this weekly course that does not build on itself, students will come and participate in a circle time in French.
The class will begin with quick introductions in English, and then we will switch over to learning in French. This class will be in about 75% French and 25% English. I believe it's important not to lose students so I will ask them questions like "Quel temps fait it ? How is the weather?" so they are able to follow along throughout the class. This is a class geared for French immersion and French beginner students.

We will go over greetings, the song of the week, the letter of the day, the number of the day, the date and the weather in French. In each class we will highlight one letter and one number per week.

Students can drop in and out of class as needed. They will be introduced to words that begin with the letter of the week, and they will get to practice these words and simple sentences using the words. This is a short class that will involve students listening to and repeating words. There will be a PowerPoint, and will involve French and English for young learners. This class is not fully immersive. It will be about 75% in French.

Week of Jan 29: K, 11

Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course, both in the form of speaking and singing (don't worry, you don't need to be a professional. It's just for fun!) This is a beginner level French class and a great way to help students with the transition to the transition to French immersion.

In order for all students to hear me in class, I employ a strict muting policy. I will unmute students one at a time so they can work with me, and all students will have many opportunities to speak. Young students may need a parent to help them unmute. I go over the muting policy each class as a reminder to students. Additionally, due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.

I grew up in a bilingual household here in Canada and we spoke both French and English growing up. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travelers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love speaking French and cannot wait to share my love of this language with you!
