informal observationClass Experience
In this class for students who have some experience with playing the ukulele, you will learn how to read ukulele tabs (which is different than reading chord charts) and finger pick songs instead of playing with chords. Students will need to know the names of the ukulele strings as well as understand about frets. In class, we will be moving our left hand up and down the fret board/neck to press one string at a time with one finger while finger picking with the right hand to play songs. This class will not involve playing chords or strumming. Reading tabs is a great skill for songs that lend themselves to finger picking versus strumming. For this class, students will need good use of fine motor skills in their fingers as well as be able to read numbers on a tab and follow along from left to right with their eyes. Every learner is unique and at different levels. Students will be provided with ukulele tab sheets to print and practice at home.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ukulele skills by learning how to read ukulele tabs and finger picking songs.
