This class is NOT for students without previous ukulele experience. When you are learning an instrument for the first time, you need to engage in learning experiences that will motivate you to continue to practice and become better. One way to do this is by learning to play some of your favorite songs, that although challenging at the beginning, will take you to the next level in your playing and will make your practicing more enjoyable. That is what this class is all about! We will learn to play two popular songs that will usher in the summer spirit: "Try Everything" by Shakira, and "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles. These songs are not only fun to play, but they each require specific chords and strumming patterns. They also belong to different musical styles, and therefore, will teach the students how to play in each one of them. This class is for students who have taken a "Beginning Ukulele" class before. If your child has no experience playing the ukulele, he/she can enroll in my "Beginning Ukulele Level 1" course before enrolling in this class: https://outschool.com/classes/beginning-ukulele-k8FCOmgd?usid=8O7tRf4o&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link. Because we are learning a new song every other day, students will need to practice individually to reinforce what they learned in class. They will love to do this since these songs are so catchy and enjoyable to practice. Students will interact with the teacher and each other through in-class performances, group exercises, and group discussions. Students will need a ukulele (soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele), and I also recommend having a music stand to facilitate holding up their music scores. The topics covered are: Day 1: "Try Everything" by Shakira Day 2: Continue learning "Try Everything" Day 3: "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles Day 4: Continue learning "Here Comes The Sun" Day 5: Review and fun time playing together! Join me to make music together this summer!
Learning Goals
