I have been a practicing music therapy provider and music educator since 2015. In my professional scope of practice, I am a nationally board-certified music therapist accredited by the Certification Board of Music Therapists and received my bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Drury University. After college, I completed a six-month intensive internship where I provided care for individuals age birth through hospice care. In the past, I have supervised college-level students in their practicum completion period. Currently, I own and operate a private practice providing services to individuals of all ages and ability levels. I am experienced in working with the following populations: developmental disabilities, early childhood intervention, speech and language deficits, traumatic brain injury, physical and neurological rehabilitation, emotional and mood disturbances, foster and residential care youth and adolescents, assisted living, memory care, dementia care, and hospice.
Learners will be expected to upload video submissions each week of songs assigned and engage in constructive critique sessions. It is highly recommended that students practice for a minimum of 10 minutes a day, 3-5 times weekly.
In order to be successful in the course, a student must have: - A ukulele in good, working order - Access to a computer/iPad/iPhone/other device for tuning application - Guitar pick (OPTIONAL)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will individually evaluate each learner by providing private feedback following video submission. This class is not based on perfection or excellence, but rather measured by steady progress and an understanding of the assignment.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are highly encouraged to provide positive feedback and support throughout the course. Learning a new instrument can be challenging and sometimes frustrating. Cheer on your learner as they work to develop these new skills!
