Description
Class Experience
Students will begin to develop mastery of the ukulele as they learn how to make new sounds and chord progressions on their instrument. They will write songs using complex strumming and fingerpicking techniques!
I'm a professional ukulele musician with over 10 years of experience touring and teaching music education. I'm endorsed by Kala Brand Ukuleles and have taught lessons, group classes, and even owned an ukulele shop for kids. I have a passion for the instrument and am always eager to share what I know with young learners. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and a certified Orff-Shulwerk music educator, I bring years of classroom experience to the Outschool classroom and am looking forward to helping your child connect with music in a meaningful way. I'm currently based in Portland, OR and love that teaching virtually opens doors to broaden my classroom and interact with students of all backgrounds and experiences.
In between classes, students will practice for 20 minutes 4 days per week. They get to choose which days are practice days and will be assigned to keep track in their Practice Journey worksheet at the back of their textbook. We'll check in each week to support each other along the journey.
Nothing additional is needed for our first class! We'll be continuing to use the same songbook from the previous session with a few additional pages I'll send along as we go.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
New .PDF printable Songbook for the next 4 weeks is attached.
