Class Experience

Students who are beginners will learn the bare-bone basics of playing ukulele such as: Parts of the Instrument, Holding and care of the Ukulele, The Strings and Tuning, Reading Chords and Playing Chords. Throughout the 4 weeks, students will learn roughly 5-10 chords they can use to continue playing the ukulele.
Zach Seckman has been teaching music since 2011. Throughout his career, Zach has taught 300+ students on Piano, Ukulele, Drums and Percussion, Voice, and Guitar. After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State, he set-up shop and started his own private teaching studio. Seckman currently teaches both in-person and online music classes and lessons in his school in Kansas. Aside from teaching, Zach also writes music for solos, ensembles, and has published methods for Music Theory, Piano, and Percussion.
Homework is not assigned, but if students know they need to work on a song or part of a song, they can work individually between each class.
Upon enrolling, students will have access to the songbook which will be used in the class. The songbook should be downloaded to be viewed on a separate device, or printed out (double sided to save paper!) Students may also have access to prerecorded lesson videos if they need to review material covered in the live. Students should have the following items for the class: -Their own Ukulele -Access to the Songbook (viewed on another device, or printed out). Optional Items to help the student: (these items are not necessarily needed to be in the class). -Writing tools if the song book is printed. -Ukulele Picks -Clip-On Tuner -Ukulele Stap
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
