1-2 hours per week. The homework will be to complete the class time with practice and continue the practice of what was learned through the week to be able to keep up the next lesson, chord or song. Students should be practicing a minimum of 5min everyday to improve.Assessment
IF the student has never taken the basics class My New Friend Uke, it will be to the discretion of the teacher if the student is ready for the content in this class. TheLearner will be able to show us their improvement through their play and independent practice through the course.Class Experience
This class is the next level from the basics ukulele class where students already are acquainted with the instrument, the learned 3 basic chords and started building a simple song repertoire. In addition, the students already are used to practicing on their own and preparing for the next class. Once Students learned the basics of playing this instrument, we can move forward to learning more chords, strumming and adding more songs! Week 1 - Review of first 3 basic chords and beginners repertoire revisit. Week 2 - Learning basic strumming and adding a new song to our repertoire Week 3 - Learn basic Minor chords Week 4 - Learn new songs with new chord additions Week 5 - Learning new strumming patterns Week 6 - Practice new strumming on a preferred song Week 7 - Intro to reggae Week 8 - Final Song Covering of these topics will be dictated on the weekly learner's improvement and advancement. The class is designed for students to learn what they need for our lesson and spend the rest of the time to complete the hour to practice what we learned during our meeting. Basic experience with the instrument is necessary as well as the will and motivation to keep up with the practice.
Learning Goals
Students that have learned the ukulele basics from the class MY NEW FRIEND UKE, will expand on their Ukulele play and take it to another level, learning a few new chords, strumming patterns and add a few more songs to their repertoire.

Supply List
A TUNER- An electronic tuner or any Tuning app will work. A chair/space to sit preferably with feet on the floor. Playing on the bed/couch or high bar stool chairs is NOT RECOMMENDED for not developing bad postures and habits and we can get focused to our hands and finger coordination. If house or learning space is loud have headphones available.

We will need a tuner, any electronic tuner or any application for the smart phone or tablet would work.
I will also be adding songs and chord charts as needed, these can be kept physically in a folder/binder or downloaded and be available to be used electronically.

I am a singer and music therapist. I have been working with children with and without special needs through my music therapy practice and have been a teaching artist for different organizations, public library, museum, etc.
