They will also improve their rhythm, counting skills, and pattern recognition.
I fell in love with the ukulele over a decade ago, and have been playing and teaching it ever since. I am a certified music educator and have been teaching group ukulele classes in public schools for over 8 years. I also have taught private music lessons for over 13 years. I love this instrument and specialize in teaching beginning instrumental music lessons to young beginners. At the public school I currently teach at, I teach group ukulele classes to students in kindergarten-3rd grade. The ukulele is a happy instrument, so my goal is to make learning the ukulele fun and frustration-free.
Students are encouraged to practice the chords and songs learned after each class.
A soprano, tenor, or concert ukulele is required for this class and must be tuned before we begin (to pitches G/C/E/A- parents please assist with this as needed). Any song sheets to use for practicing will be sent to you.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents please assist your learner with tuning their ukulele before each class. An electronic tuner or the third-party tuning app "Guitar Tuna" can be used. This app is completely free and does not require an account to be made to use it.
