Class Experience

Welcome! Uke CAN do it! No experience necessary! Flex classes are a wonderful way for students to receive quality lessons and activities, and still be able to work at their own pace. There are no live classes, however there will be a multitude of fun, engaging activities each week that will keep the learners excited about making music!

Week 1 - Students will learn the basics of ukulele (parts, tuning, string names). Students will learn the basics of rhythm and melody. They will learn the names of the lines and spaces of the treble clef staff, as well as note durations.
Week 2 - Students will be given video exercises with animated scores and backing tracks created by the teacher. They will practice playing open string workouts on their ukulele this week.
Week 3 - Students will learn how to play the C Major Scale. The scale will be notated in an easy to follow animated video.
Week 4 - Students will learn to play chords C, F, and G7. Students will learn and practice various strumming patterns. They will learn how to play a well known song using these three chords.

Video lessons will include assignments, printable worksheets, downloadable mp3's of practice tracks, and interactive quizzes. Many videos will include an animated musical score for the students to follow as they play.

Videos and assignments will be posted on Monday of each week. The teacher will hold mid-week office hours to answer any questions students may have about the materials. Students who are unable to meet during the office hours may submit their questions in the classroom. The teacher will reply with either video response or written response. Assignments will be due by Sunday of each week. Students may work at their own pace throughout the week and the teacher will always be there to answer questions along the way.

Downloadable mp3's will be provided so that the students can practice at their convenience. Students will be encouraged to share what they have learned with their classmates and even play together! Throughout each week students can check their own progress through fun interactive games and quizzes provided by the teacher.
