Description
Class Experience
After taking lessons the student should know how to play the ukulele including but not limited to: Chords Riffs Melodies Tab reading Music Notes Vocabulary Tuning Ear Training Songs Strum patterns Finger picking patterns
I graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. There I majored in Music and theatre with a concentration in performance. After graduating I began teaching music lessons for various instruments culminating in the last nine years teaching, the past four of which have been in New York City.
It is recommended that a student practice at least 10 minutes a day while taking lessons. This way they can briefly go over any new topics covered in that week's lesson so that we may be ready to continue to progress together.
Ukulele (anywhere from $25 and up, I highly recommend not going with ones that look like toys, as they fall out of tune easily and are harder to play) Notebook Pencil Optional: Music stand Ukulele chord charts Tuner (apps can be downloaded onto devices) Ukulele case
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will be learning song of all kinds. Songs I chose will be age and language appropriate and will be listened to via YouTube before we begin learning them. Students are also allowed to chose their own songs, which will be reviewed by me to make sure they are age appropriate. If I feel it is we will likely listen to it via YouTube and then learn it.
