In one 60 minutes class students will learn how to tune a Ukulele, do basic strum patterns, play basic chords, and read tablature. Participants will learn to play "You're Welcome" from Disney's MOANA or COUNT ON ME by Bruno Mars even if they have never had musical experience. Students will also receive tablature of some popular songs they will be able to learn on their own after the class including I'M YOURS by Jason Mraz, LAVA from the Pixar Featurette, SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, and more. Student's will also be encouraged (but not required) to share their own performance at the end of the class or make their own recording in their own time to share with class members following the class.

Supply List
Students will need access to a Ukulele. Instruments can be purchased very inexpensively from local music stores or at larger music chains such as Guitar Center for as little as $20. All other music, videos, and resources will be provided through the class.

As a professional musician, educator, and composer, I have always found the simplicity of the Ukulele extremely rewarding. With just a little guidance the instrument can be easily learned to a level where an individual can take over her/his learning at their own pace for the rest of their life. Or, perhaps, the instrument could lead to more serious study of other instruments. I'm offering this course to give learners access to easily performing music on an instrument in very little time and feeling empowered to learn more through their individual curiosity and interest.
