Learn to type the correct way! Help to improve your typing skills for essays, lessons, stories, assignments, coding and more. In this full semester course is designed to help students a develop strong typing skills and digital literacy. This course integrates structured lessons, practice sessions, and practical applications to ensure comprehensive skill development. Each session includes 15 minutes of new lesson content followed by 30 minutes of typing practice. C O U R S E O U T L I N E Introduction and Digital Literacy: Students begin by understanding the basics of computers, cyber citizenship, and proper typing posture. Home Row, Upper Row, and Lower Row Keys: Through incremental lessons, students master the keyboard's primary sections, focusing on accuracy and speed. Punctuation and Special Keys: Introduction to punctuation marks and special keys like Shift, Enter, and Caps Lock. Numbers and Advanced Punctuation: Typing practice with numbers and more complex punctuation marks. Speed and Accuracy: Techniques and timed sessions to enhance typing speed and reduce errors. Cross-Curricular Typing: Applying typing skills to subjects like reading, vocabulary, science, and math. Digital Citizenship and Online Safety: Lessons on safe internet practices, respectful online communication, and password security. Creative Writing and Assessment: Typing creative stories and conducting mid-course assessments to track progress. Word Processing: Learning and practicing with word processing software to create and format documents. Spreadsheets: Introduction to spreadsheet software, including basic functions, data entry, and using formulas. Presentations: Creating and enhancing presentations with animations and transitions. Integrative Projects: Combining skills from word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations into comprehensive projects. Final Projects and Assessments: Planning, completing, and presenting final projects with a comprehensive typing test at the end. This class will help students develop confidence, speed, and precision in their typing skills while reinforcing proper technique for long-term success! 🚀 W H O S H O U L D T A K E T H I S C L A S S? ◾ Students with little to no keyboard experience who want to learn the basics. ◾ Students with some keyboard experience looking to improve their skills. ◾ Students interested in learning to code but lacking keyboarding skills. T E C H N O L O G Y R E Q U I R E M E N T S A laptop or desktop computer is required (no tablets without external keyboard). R E Q U I R E D R E A D I N G, W R I T I N G A N D C O M P U T E R S K I L L S: ◾ Recognize all 26 letters of the English alphabet (both lowercase and uppercase). ◾ Understand basic sentence structure (uppercase letter start, spaces between words, punctuation at the end). ◾ Note: Fluency in reading is not required. Students will copy letters and words from provided exercises. Our Goal is to get through all the letters of the alphabet in this beginner level. All students learn at their level of comfort and pace. Accuracy is most important at this level. N O T E T O P A R E N T S: The teacher will create an EduTyping account for each student. Username and passwords will be sent to parents the day before class begins. Students may need assistance logging into their EduTyping account. Instructions for setting up learner devices will be available upon enrollment. Teachers will wait in the classroom for 10 minutes for students to arrive.

Learning Needs
The course includes short lectures, demonstrations, and individual work. Each student progresses at their own pace, with personalized support from the teacher.
Parental Guidance
Young learners often require adult assistance when using a computer and keyboard. This class utilizes EduTyping.com, a secure school-based typing platform. Each student will receive a unique, unidentifiable username and password before class. These credentials are private and known only to the teacher, parent, and student for security purposes.
This class also incorporates Gimkit, Blooket, and YouTube to enhance engagement through interactive learning, typing challenges, and educational videos. Parental supervision may be needed to assist learners in navigating these platforms. A PDF guide with setup instructions will be sent upon enrollment to help parents.
Pre-Requisites
Recognize all 26 letters of the English alphabet (uppercase and lowercase)
Understand that letters form words, and words form sentences
Basic understanding of sentence structure (capitalization, spaces between words, punctuation)
Supply List
