Description
Class Experience
Students will learn the basics of typing on the standard QWERTY keyboard - letters (lowercase and uppercase), spaces, shift key - in order to type the alphabet and basic familiar words.
As a state licensed Business Education Instructor and graduated of the Career and Technical Education Leadership Academy, I have taught keyboarding to students from K - 12th grade.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will need access to the internet and links to teacher-created Boom Card decks will be provided during class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The teacher will provide verbal feedback to learners during class based on observations of their Boom Cards typing tasks. (The teacher can observe correct answers and completion time through the teacher Boom Cards account.)
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students at this young age very often need adult assistance using a computer/keyboard. Since this is a virtual, online class, the teacher is obviously not present in the same room as the learner. The parent/guardian MUST be available during the entire class time to partner with the teacher and assist the learner as needed - setting up devices, logging in to Boom Cards, finding the location of letters and other keys on the keyboard, pressing the shift key, etc. Please expect to be at your learner’s side (off-camera) for the first 5-10 minutes of class to make sure they understand how to get started. If you see the learner is able to work independently with the teacher’s instructions, feel free to leave the room after 5-10 minutes. Please continue to be available in your home in case the learner needs to ask questions. PDF instructions will be sent to parents after enrolling explaining how to set up devices for the learner. The teacher will create Boom Card accounts for the learners and provide login information that will apply to this class ONLY.
