US Grade 2 - 4
In this one-time addition and subtraction class, students will get to have a fun, friendly competition by playing a game on Kahoot! Your learner will get to solve a variety of problems, some including regrouping (carrying and borrowing). Sample problems include: 321+384, 567-329, 27+85, 96-64 etc. This class needs a minimum of two students so we can play the game. The more players, the more fun the competition! How will I teach? I will welcome all students, we will share something about ourselves and we will begin the game as soon as possible to allow for as much playing time as we can. Students will have 60 seconds to complete each problem. If students are stuck, I will write on the screen to help model how to solve the problem. Students will have multiple choice answers to choose from. This class is such a fun way to practice those tricky skills of regrouping through carrying and borrowing with two and three digit numbers. For Kahoot, you may want to have two devices and a sheet of paper to work out problems. I will post the Game Pin on the classroom page prior to class beginning. You do not need an account to play Kahoot. You can use the app or the website - kahoot.it.

I am a former 2nd grade teacher and have taught math in the classroom for many years. I taught my 2nd graders and other students I have tutored online how to effectively add and subtract using manipulatives, charts and strategies. I have been working with children ages preschool-5th grade for 12 years. I hope to motivate and get your learner excited about math. I want all learners to feel confident in these foundational math skills.
