Class Experience

Why is the Earth warm when it can't make its own heat? The short answer is that the sun keeps us warm, but have you ever wondered how that happens? In this class learners will listen, discuss, and draw as I explain the greenhouse effect and how it keeps the planet toasty warm. I will present this information through a slideshow with graphics to help explain concepts, we will work together to create our own unique drawings to represent the ideas learned, and learners will be encouraged to ask...

Learners will understand how a combination of the sun's heat and the Earth's atmosphere keep our planet warm enough for life.

I specialize in finding fun twists to standard curriculum to help my students build critical thinking skills as well as scientific knowledge.  By adding a new twist to a familiar topic we can expand our thinking to include new possibilities. I have taught science to homeschool students for the last 16 years and during that time I have developed many teaching techniques and hands-on projects to help students explore concepts in new and exciting ways.

Paper, pencil, and optional colors to enhance diagrams
