Class Experience

According to the National Institute of Health, healthy living can help your child grow, learn, build strong bones and muscles, maintain a healthy weight, reduce future chances of disease, as well as help them feel good about themselves!

Lesson 1: "What does it mean to live healthy?" - We will discuss what this means, discover what we are already doing and what we might need to do to improve our own healthy living journey. Students will be given strategies that they can use each week to practice healthy living in a mindful way.

Lesson 2: "Eat Real Food!" - What does this mean and why is it important? We will share experiences of healthy living from week 1 and strategize ideas for adding real food to our lives in week 2!

Lesson 3: "Get Moving!" - Why should we move more and engage less in screen time? We will share experiences from week 2 and brainstorm ideas for week 3.

Lesson 4: "Putting it all together" - Review and discussion of what we have learned. Independent development of a simple plan to increase overall healthy living.

Instruction will be through interactive discussion, slide shows and "take action" homework. The homework accomplished through application of new healthy living topics.

Learner evaluation is self-assessed.
