Tweens are going through mental, social, emotional, and physical changes. The girls can share their highs and lows of the week which is a healthy expression of feelings. They will have the opportunity to talk with other girls about whatever is on their mind. Topics will be learner-directed since this is a social group class. I will ask a couple of discussion questions and "would you rather" questions. The questions are fun but also a good way to examine choices. We would have jokes and riddles, etc. to relieve stress and just have fun. The class will be interactive and does not require any previous knowledge or experience.#superstar,

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a masters degree in education/school counseling. I have been in education for over 30 years working at all levels. I started in middle school which I loved but then was asked to go to various elementary schools. I was a little skeptical but then found I loved that level also. Finally I was asked to start some programs at the high schools. Would I be able to enjoy and have great rapport with them? Yes, loved that level too, I just love working with kids of all ages! I want students to be successful learners. Research has established that social and emotional (SEL) skills play an important role in having success in school and in life. It has even been shown that students with good SEL skills score better on tests. It is my passion and mission to help students become healthy learners and that will be the goal of the classes I teach.
I like to be outside gardening, hiking, and playing with my grandkids. I look forward to many happy and rewarding experiences with my future students.
