Is it hard for your child to set up times where they can interact socially with their peers? Come to my weekly ongoing class where learners from all over the world can come together and socialize with their peers while also making new friends. Social interaction is not only good for your child's brain health but it will give your child higher self-confidence too. We will start the class with introductions and an ice breaker question. I will serve as the facilitator of each club meeting by introducing learning activities, managing classroom expectations, and providing feedback to facilitate critical thinking. I will introduce weekly topics for the learners to discuss, such as hobbies, movies, video games, and other topics of interest. There will also be a time when learners to be able to introduce their own topic too. Each learner will be given ample time to engage in the class and will be recognized and praised for their efforts. We will be practicing social conversation skills, listening skills, taking turns, and socialization. This class is a safe place for tweens to come in a supportive environment to discuss life. There is no prior or background knowledge required for this course. 5/10 Favorite things 5/17 Pet 5/24 Movies 5/31 Summer 6/7 T.V. shows 6/14 Would You Rather 6/21 Show and Tell 6/28 Music 7/5 Games 7/12 No Class 7/19 Travel 7/26 Video Games 8/2 Show and Tell 8/9 Sports 8/16 Favorite things 8/23 hobbies 8/30 Tweens choose the topics 9/6 no class 9/13 no class 9/20 no class This class is perfect for children of all abilities. Please feel free to contact me with any specifics that will help your child to be able to participate in the class to their fullest extent. At times breakout rooms are used to help reluctant speakers or people who normally would not participate in a discussion with a big group. Breakout rooms also help give more students the chance to talk and discuss the topic. front of the whole class

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome to my class. My name is Teacher Wendy. I have worked in education for over ten years including substitute teaching and as an intervention specialist. I have been teaching online for over six years; I am certified in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have an A.A. in History at Austin Community College and a B.A. in History, with a minor in English at Texas State University. I am a homeschool mom to three kids, two are differently-abled. I have struggled with dyslexia my whole life and I know personally how hard it can be to learn simple things that others take for granted. It is my personal mission to help people like me that are differently-abled learners.
I am most passionate about teaching tween students, however, I love teaching anyone with a heart to learn. When I am teaching tweens I find it’s best to be authentically interested and curious about their ideas, feelings, and experiences. Actively and purposefully listening to what they share gives me a better idea of how to support them. I prefer teaching skills through a multisensory approach and I live for those moments when a student's "light bulb goes off". Learning doesn't have to be boring, and by incorporating a little fun and lots of silliness, learning can be fantastic! I really enjoy educating tweens and entertaining, I call it edge-uh-tain. I like to incorporate positive encouragement and praise to assist my students and help with class management. Won't you join me on this wonderful and whimsical ride? I hope to see you in my classroom!
