In this ongoing, drop-in style class tweens will wind down and relax by coloring artwork, learning new art techniques, and socializing with other girls their age.
Class experience
In each class students will greet themselves by saying hello and showing any art projects they have been working on outside of class. Students are encouraged to bring their own coloring pages/books, canvases, ceramics, paint by sticker/number/sand, or blank papers along with any other type of media in which they choose. In class the students will be bonding with their peers by chatting it up about about all things disney and pixar! I will prompt appropriate conversation by asking...
Students will socialize with their peers in a relaxed setting while also learning different coloring techniques and art terminology.
There is a great importance of creating a safe place for young girls to feel comfortable to express themselves artistically. Art has been a passion of mine since the first grade. Being a Girl Scout for 13 years, I understand the importance of building confidence and social skills in youth, while giving them indepence and room to grow. *We will not be discussing sexual health in this class.
Students may use type of materials they have at home. Some examples are color pencils, sharpener markers, crayons, paint, etc. Students may want to bring their own artwork or coloring pages/books to class, however there will be pages provided every week at sign up they may use.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
May need pencil sharpener for colored pencils.
May want to use coloring books, paint by number sets, or any type of coloring art form.
