The goal of tutoring is to 1) bring your child at least up to grade level in reading, writing and math, 2) help them achieve independence in the classroom, 3) eliminate frustration, and 4) develop a love of reading and learning.
I have been teaching elementary students, including struggling learners, for over 10 years. My hope and goal for my courses is to help instill a love of reading. That happens through engagement, confidence and student success. That is what brings me to Outschool. Informally assessing learners will allow me to identify a student's challenges. We will work together to build their reading skills while having fun!
There is no homework assigned.
paper or notebook pencil colored pencils, crayons, markers optional: favorite book (picture book, chapter book, etc.)
Learners are assessed through the activities performed during the tutoring sessions, and through formative assessments administered during these sessions.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will have opportunities to participate in very simple stretches and exercises that are completely optional (such as stretching arms up to the ceiling, or doing a jumping jack). They should have some additional space to do so, if they choose to perform the exercise. They should also have a water bottle close to them (optional). This is to keep students alert, engaged and having fun. It is completely optional.
