Class experience
US Grade 9 - 12

I am a native speaker and a certified Spanish teacher with a Masters Degree in Various Exceptionalities. I am a retired teacher. I taught Spanish language, culture, and literature for more than 15 years in different settings, such as dual language classrooms from K to college level. Currently, I am a volunteer Spanish teacher online. I would not change the joy of helping learners become proficient in my mother tongue. It is also essential to me that they enjoy the experience. Consequently, much effort is put into making lessons didactic, varied, and memorable. My pedagogy is based on research and classes are conducted in Spanish 50 to 100% of the time with a progressive increment. I am an admirer of Dr. Glenn Doman and Dr. Suchini Suzuki. Their strategies have inspired me to apply them to my four children, now successful adults. I welcome mistakes as an important part of the learning process, as well as effectively correcting and guiding interactions. In my approach to language learning, I present grammar and vocabulary in integration with real-life contexts and the rich Spanish culture, actively involving the students at every step. I am also a philosopher, BPh, and have taught Social Studies in bilingual contexts. I have served as an elementary school through college level teacher in multiple capacities. I have taught various subjects that go from language arts, science, and math to the full spectrum of Spanish language courses. Of equal importance, students and parents' feedback are taken seriously to grow and become a better teacher as deliberated practices are reflected in the lessons. Motto: In everything I teach, there is something I learn.
