Tutoring in Early Reading: Letters and Sounds, Phonics and Sight Words

Beginner Level
In this weekly group tutoring class, your learner will receive a reading lesson that will focus on a reading skill from a certified teacher. This class is great for homeschool or after school. There will be three main reading topics that I will focus on for the tutoring classes: 1) Letter/sounds 2) Phonics skills 3) Sight words Some examples of the skills that can be included: -letters/sound identification - CVC words -blends -digraphs -y as a vowel -open/closed syllables -silent e -vowel teams -R-controlled -soft/hard c/g -word work to build sight word fluency Below is an example of a weekly breakdown of the topics. CVC Words: Week of March 10, 2024: Phonics skill-CVC words with short a and/or short o sound (Examples: rat/log) and sight word (no) Week of March 17, 2024: CVC words with short e and/or short u sound (Examples: leg/mud) and sight word (his) Week of March 24, 2024: CVC words with short i sound (Examples: pin) and sight word (her) Initial and Final Blends: Week of March 31, 2024: Initial Consonant Blends (CCVC) (Example: bl/cl/fl/gl) and sight word (has) Week of April 7, 2024: Final Consonant Blends (CVCC) (Examples: nt/st/mp/sk/) and sight word (by) Digraphs: Week of April 14, 2024: ch digraph (Examples: chin/beach) and sight word (way) Week of April 21, 2024: wh digraph (Examples: when/what) and sight word (him) Week of April 28, 2024: sh digraph (Examples: ship) and sight word (will) Week of May 5, 2024: th digraph (Examples: thumb/bath) and sight word (day) Week of May 12, 2024: ck digraph (Examples: sock/duck) and sight word (may) Silent e (Magic e) Week of May 19, 2024: Magic e with long a or long o sounds (Example: tape/robe) and sight word (want) Week of May 26, 2024: Magic e with long e or long u sounds (Example: pete/mule) and sight word (all) Week of June 2, 2024: Magic e with long i sound (Example: bike) and sight word (that) Consonant Digraphs: Week of June 9, 2024: ph digraph (Example: phone) and sight word (not) Week of June 16, 2024: gh digraph (Examples: graph) and sight word (came) Vowel Teams: Week of June 23, 2024: Vowel Teams with long a sound (Examples: rain/play) and sight word (one) Week of June 30, 2024: Vowel Teams with long e sound (Examples: leaf/sleep/key) and sight word (two) Week of July 7, 2024: Vowel Teams with long i sound (Examples: pie/right) and sight word (after) R-controlled (Bossy R) Week of July 14, 2024: R-controlled (ar and or sounds)- (Example: card/corn) and sight word (make) Week of July 21, 2024: R-controlled (er/ir/ur sounds)- (Example: hammer/bird/turn) and sight word (was) Suffixes and Plurals Forms: s, es, ies, ing, ed Week of July 28: Suffix s (Examples: cats/bikes) and sight word (get) Week of August 4: Suffix es (Examples: kisses/beaches/boxes) and sight word (out) Week of August 11: Suffix ies (Examples: babies/ candies) and sight word (about) Week of August 18: Suffix ing (Examples: playing) and sight word (other) Week of August 25: Suffix ed with the (/id/ sound) (Examples: planted) and sight word (would) Week of September 1: Suffix ed with the (/t/ sound) (Examples: washed) and sight word (who) Week of September 8: Suffix ed with the (/d/ sound) (Examples: sailed) and sight word (write) Join for one, two or all of the reading lessons. ***Look for the Fall Schedule for the new school year Refund Policy All classes running week after week have a standard refund policy: "Cancel anytime. No refunds for past payments. Most recent payment can be refunded within 24 hours of purchase and prior to the first meeting of the payment period."

The lessons will be created on Google Jamboard in which I will be sharing my screen with the learner.
Your learner won't need an account to engage in the class.
Supply List
(OPTIONAL) I will upload an activity packet that goes along with the class (if needed). Other options: -You can use loose paper/notebook or dry eraser board and markers. -You can use the annotation on Zoom (if you know how to use it). -You can use the chat feature Some optional supply suggestions that you can use are: -pencils -crayons/colored pencils -dry erase board and dry erase markers -loose paper -notebook
