This class is set up for learners who would like some extra practice with math using the practical and fun of horses. This tutoring sessions can be used to gain a better grasp of the material during the 8 week class. It will provide the learner private math lessons relating to a topic they are learning. I use horse references to create math questions for the learner to solve. This may be measurements, word problems or decoding symbols. I use practical horse related problems for learners to solve. For example, we might measure our own foot to discover how to measure for a stirrup for your saddle or have a word problem where we attend a saddle shop to buy a saddle blanket. I will assist the learner in learning how to break down the math problem into smaller parts in order to solve it. I will strive for learner accountability where I make sure that the learner understands the material before moving on. This builds confidence and pride for each kiddo in being able to have successes in math! We will use the first 5 - 10 minutes or so to learn which areas the learner would like to discuss and then dive into our learning together. Use of slides and physical horse equipment will be used to provide visual aids in our learning process. My teaching style is enthusiastic, interesting and learner centered. I want the learner to be successful and grasp the concepts we're discussing. I also enjoy cheering your learner on to success.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their math skills in a horse related and fun way.
We will use math word problems and specific scenarios in order to create fun math problems and learners will have guidance to break down the problems into smaller parts in order to solve. Emphasis will be on practical use of math and horse related scenarios. We will spend the first few minutes of class discussing which areas the learner would like to emphasize and the remainder of the time learning that skill.
Prior communication regarding which skills the learner would like to work toward is welcomed.
Please message me to find out about availability and if it would be a good fit for your kiddo.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a teacher, I enjoy teaching about all things horse related. I have all of my classes centered around horse interested learners. This particular private math class is set up for learners to receive one on one tutoring to achieve success in their math skills. I have set this class up using horse related themes and items to give a practical use of math. We may use measurement to measure our foot in order to find the correct stirrup size or use word problems to find out how to pay a cashier at the tack store and receive the correct change.
I like making learning fun and having a learner have that "light bulb" moment when they grasp a particular skill. Your success is what I'm striving for!
