Description
Class Experience
It is a magical world full of unknown possibilities and together we will explore it using character mapping, discussions of literary devices such as foreshadowing, and overarching themes found in the literature. Students will read the book and dive into this magical world using discussions, worksheets, and out-of-class activities to gain a deeper understanding of the book. Activities and discussions will be based on the set of scenes assigned that week. PARENTS: Please be aware that there...
- Use of spoken and written language through activities for writing and speaking that emphasize persuasive, reflective, informative, and narrative communication - Provides the student with an organizer for interpreting the text (Character Analysis) and guided questions to support understanding and critical analysis - Encourages discussion within and beyond the classroom about the specified text and invites similar exploration of the related novels
I am a complete Potterhead including a pilgrimage to Universal Studios annually, a collection of fan shirts, and several books about fan theories on my bookshelf. I even own more than one wand which I may or may not be practicing the Silencio spell with. It is all in good fun and with an appreciation for the magical world that JK Rowling has created!
Each week, students will be assigned additional reading of the assigned book, asked to journal about the segment read, asked to complete handouts associated with the material, and come to class ready to discuss material
1 file available upon enrollmentThe teacher will provide handouts, selected recommended websites for activities, and optional crafts associated with assigned reading. At the end of each session, I will supply the handouts and sites needed for the coming week. Parents are responsible for providing a copy of the book (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Screenplay), by JK Rowling) and printing expected handouts to be used in class. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parental guidance on each online tool: - Youtube: This course uses Youtube in both live classes and via the Outschool Classroom platform. Outschool embeds the link on its platform so that learners remain on the Outschool platform and don’t access the YouTube website. - Warner Brothers: This course uses the Warner Brothers movie site for various activities both live classes and via the Outschool Classroom platform. This site does not require logging in to participate in the activities. - Wizarding World: This course uses the Wizarding World site for various activities both live classes and via the Outschool Classroom platform. While it is not required to create an account to participate in these activities, the learner experience is enhanced if they do choose to create an account with parental guidance.

About Me
