Description

Class Experience

- Use of spoken and written language through activities for writing and speaking that emphasize persuasive, reflective, informative, and narrative communication
- Provides the student with an organizer for interpreting text (Character Analysis) and guided questions to support understanding and critical analysis
- Encourages discussion within and beyond the classroom about the specified text and invites similar exploration of the related novels
I am a complete Potterhead to include a pilgrimage to Universal Studios annually, a collection of fan shirts, and several books about fan theories on my bookshelf. I even own more then one wand which I may or may not be practicing the silencio spell with. It is all in good fun and with an appreciation for the magical world that JK Rowling has created!
Each week, students will be assigned additional reading of the assigned book, asked to journal about the segment read, asked to complete handouts associated with the material and come to class ready to discuss material.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Teacher will provide handouts, selected recommended websites for activities and optional crafts associated with assigned reading. At the end of each session, I will supply the handouts and sites needed for the coming week. Parents are responsible for providing a copy of the book (Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix) and printing expected handouts to be used in class. Learners will be graded on completion of handouts and journal entries when uploaded in to the Classroom and are provided by request to parents.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While the book club covers a copyrighted source, learners are expected to work from their own copy of the text. No reading will be done during the lesson, out-loud or otherwise and all materials provided to students are either created by myself or are used with permission of the creators.

About Me

I believe that teaching can be useful but only if it is also fun- boring classes are not allowed and there is nothing worse than being bored (this is why I heavily encourage interaction in e-learning)!

Expect to enjoy classes about Harry Potter,...
