In this one time, Thanksgiving and turkey themed class, we will enjoy chatting about the holiday, discussing our favorite foods and traditions. Then, we will enjoy a story time, craft, and some discussion on gratefulness.
Class experience
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and to have some fun! In this one time class we will be enjoying a story time from the book, "The Plump and Perky Turkey" and craft time by making our own plump turkey. As most people associate November and the holiday of Thanksgiving as a time to be grateful, learners will have time to discuss what they are grateful for. I have taught this class to different groups at a cooperative, for both lower and upper elementary students. I enjoy teaching a subject or principle and including different areas of study along with the original idea. I have trained in a non credited format, for many years, with an author and speaker who specializes in teaching children character. I am a homeschool mom that has taught American History, Biology, and Life Skills for 3 years in a cooperative setting. I have also tutored 3rd-5th graders in Math, Science, and History through an after school program. Though I have a biology background academically, I enjoy many subjects and having fun!
The craft will be comprised of materials that should be on hand, paper, paper plates, glue, construction paper, scissors, and the like, however, feathers, glitter, buttons... almost anything can adorn our turkey creations. I will post more in the classroom about the craft.
The discussion of gratefulness will come up and I can not control what other learners will say they are grateful for, however, class will stay appropriate for all learners.
