Description

Class Experience

In this class, we will read the book “Turk and Runt” by Lisa Wheeler. As we read, I will ask comprehension questions that students can answer orally or in the chat box or through visual cues. Next we will trace our hands and use our hand tracing as a graphic organizer. Working together, we will determine the characters, setting, beginning events, middle events, and end events in order to create a summary. Students can then turn their graphic organizers into turkeys after class. If time...

Students will learn how to summarize a fictional text using the basic plot elements of characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end events. They will also be challenged to answer questions related to the summary as they read.

No homework. Students can choose to turn their graphic organizers into turkeys after class if they choose.

Paper and a pencil

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
