Sign up today, and watch as your child learns to shine their brightest! Class Breakdown: This class will be broken down into three sections. Each section will use instruction, activities, and music created specifically for young gymnasts. That means, you can rest assured that every lesson is designed with developmental goals and abilities for this age group in mind. • Warm Up - Each class will begin with guided stretches and tumbling drills as well as a fun locomotor activity to get gymnasts moving and engage them with strength, flexibility, and coordination. Gymnasts will only need enough space to stretch and move around for this section. • Beginner Beam Exercises - Next, Gymnasts will practice their balance and coordination on the beam. Using a short line of tape (approximately 2-4 feet long), gymnasts will go through simple guided drills designed to engage gymnasts with balance and build gross motor strength. If this equipment is unavailable, gymnasts will easily be able to participate without tape. • Tumbling Time - To end each class, gymnasts will practice foundational floor skills designed to prepare them to master safe tricks with beautiful technique. Tumbling tricks in this class include forward and backward rolls, beginner handstands and cartwheels, as well as pre-handspring drills and skills. Gymnasts will engage with these drills through guided instruction, circuit practice, games, and action songs. This section will end with a fun cool down routine and a round of applause for the class. Gymnasts will only need a safe space to tumble and move around for this section. Learner Engagement Time for sharing will be provided at the beginning of each class, and again at the end, if time allows. Gymnasts will be allowed to speak freely throughout each class; however, extraneous chatter is not encouraged. Engagement is not required for this class. All learners are encouraged to participate at whatever level they are able and most comfortable. Video and audio will not be required; however, all students will be required to check in via video at least once per Outschool safety policy. The mute feature will be used if necessary to provide the best sound quality for all students. Gymnasts should be familiar with using this feature or have an adult nearby to help. 2023 Class Syllabus: Class themes and focus skills are created to highlight developmental goals for this age group.
