*No tap shoes needed!* Tap dance is a great way to learn about music, rhythm, dance, and to build confidence. This is a dance style that will help students learn how to challenge themselves, improvise, trust the strength of their bodies, and so much more. The first step is to try! This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to perform seven foundational tap steps including: shuffle, flap, brush, spank, irish, and buffalo.
Total of 21 years of dance education and teaching experience.
hard soled shoes like keds, ballet flats, or bare feet - SOCKS ARE NOT RECOMENDED they are a slip hazard OR tap shoes a hard floor or surface (I use a board of wood) - Tile is not recommended if you are using actual tap shoes
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is an active class and students will be moving, jumping, and balancing. Please note that tapping on slippery surfaces with socks, tap shoes, or any other traction-less foot covering may cause injury. Tapping on tile is highly discouraged as is wearing socks while practicing without shoes. Students need a clear space (no debris or tripping hazards) with plenty of space to move their legs and arms.
