Are you eager to learn more techniques for creating modern, digital illustrations on your iPad using the Procreate app? Then this class is for you! In a small group setting, students will follow along with my step-by-step demonstration to create their own tropical leaf illustrations while furthering their Procreate app skills. We’ll cover how to create custom canvas sizes, sketching, using a reference photo, adding shading and highlights using clipping masks, adding texture & more! By the end of this one-time class, students will have the skills to create their own eye-catching, 3-dimensional illustrations in Procreate. ~ REQUIRED PRIOR EXPERIENCE ~ This class is Part 1 of my Procreate for Beginners series. Although a beginner class, this lesson was designed for students with some basic knowledge of the Procreate app. If you are new to the Procreate app or would like a review of the basics, take my "Let's Doodle! Intro To Procreate for Beginners 101" class before enrolling in this course. Before taking this class, students should ALREADY be familiar with... - The Procreate app interface & navigation. - Using Layers. - Using basic Procreate tools such as the Brush tool to paint, smudge, & erase. - Selecting colors from their canvas or color wheel & creating color palettes. Then, when you are ready to build your skills, take my Procreate for Beginners series classes in order: 1) Tropical Leaves! Procreate for Beginners - Build Your Skills 1: Sketch & Shade 2) Fun With Symmetry! Procreate for Beginners - Build Your Skills 2: Drawing Guides 3) Summer Citrus! Procreate for Beginners - Build Your Skills 3: Composition *This class is also available as part of a multi-day Procreate course/camp where learners complete all 3 of my Procreate for Beginners series classes in order over the course of 3 class sessions.* ~ CLASS BREAKDOWN ~ Prior to class, students will need to download the class resources (posted in the classroom Welcome Message) to their iPad devices. We have a lot to cover, so preparedness is important. We will begin class with quick introductions so that we can get to know each other. Learners will then follow along with my step-by-step demonstration to create their own Tropical Leaf illustration. Interaction and questions throughout the class are encouraged. We typically only have time to complete one tropical leaf illustration during class. However, as an optional homework assignment, learners are encouraged to use the provided class reference photos to complete more leaf illustrations to reinforce the techniques learned. I can’t wait to see you in class! ~ Erin

We will be creating digital art on the Procreate app for iPads during this class. This is a third-party app that will need to be downloaded onto the learner's iPad device. You will not need to create an account to use this app. All of your Procreate data is tied to your iPad and your Apple ID.
Supply List
✔️ Downloaded class resources: I will provide the photos that we will use for this lesson in the classroom. Prior to class time, the provided photos will need to be downloaded to the learner's iPad device. ✔️ iPad: The Procreate app is currently only available on the iPad. ✔️ Up to date Procreate app: This is $9.99 in the App Store, but well worth the investment. ✔️ Stylus: I highly recommend using an Apple Pencil for best results, however, any stylus can be used or even your finger. ✔️ A separate device for class so that the learner can draw along with me on their iPad as they view my demonstration of Procreate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!—I'm Erin, and I am so excited to teach you something new! I have 4 years of experience as a K-12 art teacher, but when I had my first child, I decided to take a crack at earning an income from home. I've now been working for myself earning a full-time income as a graphic artist and YouTube content creator & influencer for the past 5 years. Since going into business for myself, I've developed so many great skills in running my own YouTube and digital art businesses, and I'm excited to pass this knowledge on to young learners.
I teach classes on the skills I use every day to run my online business: graphic design, creating branding and marketing assets in Canva, how to create a successful YouTube channel, how to edit videos, and how to create beautiful digital art.
My favorite things to do include curling up on the couch and drawing while watching a movie with my cat and enjoying a day at the beach with my family.
I can't wait to see you in my class!
~Erin
