Class experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Students will improve the following in class:
-Reading confidence by reading long, challenging texts
-Vocabulary building and pronunciation of new words
-Speaking confidence by conversing with fellow students and party members
-Basic math skills while calculating damage numbers in battle
I have been teaching reading, vocabulary, and speaking to English language learners and young native speakers for the last several years. I excel at making this material both fun and challenging for everyone and I always adjust materials and learning levels as needed for students in class so that they never feel overwhelmed. Learning should be fun, and that's my expertise!
Homework Offered
Students are given a vocabulary handout at the end of each session which includes vocabulary learned throughout the campaign. They are tasked with using these new words and definitions to create their own sentences about their favorite in-game character.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Individualized student feedback will be provided to the parent at the end of each class to let you know how they performed and if there are any problem areas that need to be addressed for next session (such as speaking confidence, pronunciation of certain sounds, etc.).
Grades Offered
 1 file available upon enrollment
Students should bring a six sided dice to our class, which will be used to do skill checks and calculate battle damage in-game. Students have much more fun if they use their own dice instead of the teacher's when playing! No third-party software tools are necessary for students in this course. All materials are screenshared during the lesson through Google slides, so your student only needs to attend class and be ready to learn!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
In this class, students will be battling monsters with their chosen character. There is nothing particularly violent other than the occasional written mention of blood or a skeleton in-game, but if your young learner is easily frightened in these situations, this course may not be for them!

Students will not be required to use any third-party software tools for this course. All lessons are conducted through Google Slides and will be screen shared during class by myself, so just make sure your student brings a six-sided dice and their sense of imagination to class!
