What's included

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Homework will be assigned weekly to help learners apply the concepts through various exercises. Additionally, there will be recording assignments to further enhance their practice and understanding.
Certificate of Completion
Families may request a certificate of completion once the course has been successfully finished. This certificate serves as a formal acknowledgment of the learner’s participation and achievement, providing a tangible record of the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course.

Students will learn through lectures, readings, exercises, and listening assignments provided by the teacher. This is a live interactive online course limited to 3-6 students to ensure exclusivity and that each student receives the attention they need from the instructor. Students may email the instructor if there are any questions regarding the material in this course. The class time is structured according to the following topics as outlined in the Trinity College of Music. Supplementary materials will be provided for additional practice. The final meeting will consist of a mock exam where learners will be coached on how to take the practice exam for the Trinity College of Music: Grade 5 exam. Upon completion, the following class would be 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜: 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝟔 (𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲).

There will be listening and writing assignments will be due two days prior to the scheduled meeting to allow the instructor to provide timely feedback to the learner via the Outschool classroom. While the assignments are not mandatory, it is highly recommended to complete them to receive the best results from the course and in preparing for the exam for the learner.

Lesson 1:
Tenor Clef
 Students will learn to read and write music in the tenor clef, understanding its unique position and application in various musical pieces. This skill broadens their ability to interpret music written for different instruments.

Note Values & Rests; New Time Signatures
 Students will explore complex note values and rests, as well as new time signatures. This knowledge is essential for interpreting and performing more rhythmically diverse music.

Lesson 3:
Writing Your Own Tunes to Any Given Rhythm; Setting Words to a Rhythm
 Students will learn to create original tunes based on provided rhythms and practice setting words to music. This helps in developing composition skills and an understanding of rhythm's role in melody.

Lesson 4:
Pentatonic Major Scales on C and G; Circle of Fifths
 Students will study pentatonic scales on C and G and explore the Circle of Fifths. This foundation is key for understanding tonal relationships and key signatures.
