Show what you know!
Students will each pick 2-3 tricks to demo with their cat! They do not have to be perfect demos, as everyone learns at a different pace. However, students will work with their cat to demonstrate how they have taught their cat and how their cat has progressed. If the students are uncomfortable, an alternate trick, such as opening doors or walking in your feet, may be presented. This option needs to be discussed in advance.
Students will learn the specific tricks listed. Students will also learn how to use positive reinforcement to effectively train tricks, and be able to use the principles to think of their own tricks.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to practice the tricks learned with their cats, everyday, for 10 minutes.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
At the end of our class, we will have an open class where students demonstrate the skills they have mastered with their cats.
Grades Offered
Nothing is necessary for most classes, certain tricks will require props: a cat harness, a roughly 10 inch stick ( a wooden spoon or chopstick is fine. ) plastic cups for the shell game. For riding a skateboard, you will need a skateboard for the cat to ride, to teach your cat to ring a bell, you'll need a bell. If you are not planning on training a cat as we go, no materials are needed.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Just training cats, so a parent may want to consider supervising younger children when working with animals.
Not needed, as this is a hands on course.
