Homework
1-2 hours per week. After each session, we will send the assignments for the week to the parent's email via the Outschool Messaging system. This will usually include a few songs and exercises to practice, along with some specific notes on what to focus on. Learners will progress at different paces based on how often they practice. We typically recommend practicing 3-4 times a week, for 10 minutes a day for kids 8 and under, and 20 minutes a day for kids 9+. Older teens may be willing to invest even more time, but consistency is better than one long practice session once a week!

Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
This class will cover the fundamentals of playing the viola, including how to hold the instrument properly, bowing technique, basic finger placement, and understanding pitch differences. We’ll also discuss good posture and how to navigate the viola’s strings with confidence.

There will be time for questions about what ongoing viola lessons would look like and how we tailor instruction to each student’s needs.

If you choose to continue with regular viola lessons, here’s what you can expect from our teaching approach! 🎻✨

In these one-on-one viola lessons, scheduled weekly or biweekly, our expert teachers will guide your child in mastering the instrument with confidence. We’ll start with the fundamentals of music theory and technique, progressively building skills until they can play beautifully across various styles!

We make learning fun by incorporating songs, music theory activities, and engaging exercises. While we follow a structured curriculum as a foundation, we tailor lessons to your learner’s musical interests—whether it’s classical, folk, jazz, pop, or even composing their own melodies!

Topics Covered:

🎵 Bowing & Finger Techniques
🎵 Note Reading & Music Theory
🎵 Scales & Arpeggios
🎵 Vibrato & Tone Production
🎵 Rhythm & Ensemble Skills
🎵 Ear Training & Improvisation
🎵 Composing & Songwriting

These private 1:1 lessons are engaging, supportive, and personalized. Let’s make music together! 🎻
