Class Experience
My First Piano Adventure is my absolute favorite lesson course for new-to-piano or transfer students around the late 5 into 8 range! I love the series’ colorful pictures and stories kids relate to. Through this series, young beginners learn important foundational piano-playing concepts: proper finger-hand-arm posture and movement, letter key names, basic rhythms, and successively challenging series of note reading patterns! Students wishing to continue may sign up for "My First Piano Adventure: Private Piano Lessons with Ms. Grace". --- $25 per class-- In this trial class: -New students will explore different sounds (soft and loud, high and low), learn about good hand posture, identify two and three black keys, and play rhythm games and activities! -Transfer students will meet Ms. Grace, pick up where they are with notes/rhythms, and be directed to My First Piano Adventure curriculum A, B, C or other course classes. - A lesson and writing book will be needed for each level. We will work on 2 lesson book and 1 writing assignments per class to master through 10-30min daily practice at home. An additional level-suitable Faber solo book (Disney, Classical, Popular Songs) may be added per request. We will progress quickly through Levels A, B, C, giving students solid technique and reading skills before starting Faber My First Piano Adventures Level 1! New students age 5-6 will start with Book A. Transfer students ages 5-6 and new students ages 7-8 may start with Book B or Book C after evaluation. As this is a one-on-one class, each lesson is structured around the individual student’s prior skill.

Hi, I'm Ms. Grace. I teach beginner to advanced piano. I'm passionate about level, age-appropriate lesson books and pieces that fit my students' interests!
I started piano at age 5, as many classical pianists do. I studied with Rowan University piano faculty at age 15. While working on my degree at Brigham Young University, I took lessons in Vienna, Austria with faculty at the University of Vienna and the Vienna Konservatorium. In 2014, I graduated with a piano performance degree from BYU under Dr. Richard Anderson. Since then I’ve taught privately, judged in Encore and other regional competitions. I worked at the Utah Piano Academy for two years. I now run a piano studio full of happy, awesome kids. I am an active member of the Music Teachers National Association. I often prepare students for ABRSM, RCM, and local exams and events.
