It’s been 5 years since the defeat of Voldemort and the Tri-Wizards Tournament has been started up again! To commemorate the occasion, Hogwarts has been chosen to host it again. Because of the events of the last tournament, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons have declined to participate. This year’s participating schools will be Hogwarts, Ilvermory (the American school of magic), and Mahoutokoro (the Japanese School of Magic). In this escape room styled tournament, you and your friends will form teams from each school and prepare for the tournament. Your team will be dropped into a series of challenges and you must pass each one to escape from one stage to the next challenge. You will work together to solve puzzles, riddles, physical challenges, and more to see if your team can move on to the next challenge. Along the way, your team will receive points for each challenge. The team with the highest score wins the Tri-Wizard Cup! Are you up to the challenge? Do you have what it takes to get through each challenge to help your school? Come find out in this 1-time class on Outschool. It's scheduled for 65 minutes but may take a little bit longer, depending on the group and how quickly they solve the challenges. Each student will need to bring their wits, courage, broomstick, and wand to class. Your wand may be an official one, a pencil, stick, or whatever you choose! There are some printed clues (Escape Room Printables) that will be posted in the classroom. Please have them ready for your student. They will also need a pencil and something to write on. It would be helpful if your student has read or watched the movies at least up to "The Goblet of Fire" but it's not absolutely necessary. There may be some spoilers for them for later books or movies, such as the defeat of Voldermort, but no details will be presented. The characters, locations, and thematic material of this Escape Room are all property of the owners of the copyrights. The story is original and based on many of the details from www.harrypotter.fandom.com.
Learning Goals
Students will solve a series of puzzles, games, physical challenges, and more to pass through the tournament stages. They will learn to work with a team, look for clues, strategize, role play, problem solve, use "spells," and role play as a part of the narrative of the story.
Other Details
Supply List
Students will need a wand (pencil, stick, official wand, etc.), a broom, a pencil to write with, and enough room to "ride" the broom in place (not moving around the room). Parents are asked to print out 3 clue pages that will be posted in the classroom. The Spell Chart can be given to them before class so they can practice their spells with their wands. The maze and secret code should be given to them at the appropriate time during class, not before. You may put it in an envelope or just fold it. Those will be attached to the email that you get once you register and will also be posted in the classroom. Look under the conversation for a blue link that says "Escape Room Printables."

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Penny! I live in North Carolina and have a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I taught public and private school music classes for 6 years and then taught music in churches for 20 years. For the last 3 years, I have taught English online so I know how to engage students in an online classroom. I owned a cake decorating business for a few years and taught cake decorating classes for a local craft store. I'm a homeschool mom and taught lots of different subjects to my own children and to our co-op groups. I love all things music and crafts! I've also built websites and I edit videos so you may see some classes for that too. Whether it be cake decorating, pottery, sewing, composer studies, game songs, or tech classes, come join me for a class and learn something new.
