US Grade 3 - 6
Students will explore the various members of our Solar System in a fun, fact-filled journey through space. Each week we will visit a different planet or object orbiting our Sun. Using vivid PowerPoint images and interactive lecture, I will help students discover the unique characteristics of each planet, including its appearance, size, distance from the sun, and surface conditions. Astronomy facts and figures can often seem tedious if not presented with enthusiasm, so I work to keep the lecture moving along with plenty of interactive and engaging information. There will always be time for questions and lively discussion throughout. 2025 Section: Dates and Topics Jan 21: The Sun Jan 28: Mercury & Venus Feb 4: Earth & Moon Feb 11: Mars & the Asteroid Belt Feb 18: Jupiter Feb 25: Saturn March 4: Uranus & Neptune March 11: The Dwarf Planets & Comets I will provide learners with a printable worksheet ("travel log") to record their findings during each class. The worksheet may also include a fun quiz or review that we'll complete together at the end of the session. No previous knowledge of astronomy is required to enjoy this class!
