This is a unique drawing class to create your own treasure map. We will work together, step by step, to make the map, add landmarks and features, learn a few simple drawing techniques, and label each area of the map. Each child's map will contain some of the same elements and each child will get to explore their own creative ideas to make landmarks and features as well. The first few minutes, we'll cut out and prepare our map shape and then, the majority of the time will be spent drawing areas onto our maps. At the end, we'll learn a few antiquing effects to make the map look authentic. If your child enjoys this class, they might also love my 3D Treasure Map Play Dough Adventure. :)
Learning Goals
Students will have a chance to reuse a recycled material to make art. They will learn a few simple drawing techniques as well as some antiquing effects to make the treasure map look ancient. They will be labeling the map with simple titles for each region, and they will learn how to draw and label a compass. They'll be able to explore their creative expression by drawing out their own treasure map ideas as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I run a mobile art lab called The Makery in the Seattle area. I teach kids of all ages and have been doing this for 5 years. I focus on using recycled and found objects to make art. Since I am unable to be out in the community right now, I am so happy I get to do this through Outschool!
