Treasure Map Drawing Adventure

Class

Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(546)
This is a unique drawing exercise to create your own treasure map.

Class experience

Students will have a chance to reuse a recycled material to make art. They will learn a few simple drawing techniques as well as some antiquing effects to make the treasure map look ancient. They will be labeling the map with simple titles for each region, and they will learn how to draw and label a compass. They'll be able to explore their creative expression by drawing out their own treasure map ideas as well.
I run a mobile art lab called The Makery in the Seattle area. I teach kids of all ages and have been doing this for 5 years. I focus on using recycled and found objects to make art. Since I am unable to be out in the community right now, I am so happy I get to do this through Outschool!
Here is the supply list for class:
-Brown Paper Bag of some sort (large enough to cut out a map at least the size of a standard 9x11 piece of paper)
-Markers of all colors and especially the colors Blue, Green, Red, Black, and Brown.
-Pencil with eraser
-Black Pen
-Scissors
-A Place Mat or Work Mat to do your work on. (We will be working on the very edge of our map, so to protect your table from marks, please have a place-mat or larger piece of paper underneath.)
-crayons of all colors & an orange or yellow or peach crayon that you have peeled the paper off of.
-string, pipe cleaner, yarn or ribbon. (Just one of these is needed)
