Description
Class Experience
During this class learners will learn how to use co-ordinates to find hidden pirate treasure on a map. Learners will learn how to read and write co-ordinates using the x and the y axis on a grid and then find the pirate treasure! The lesson will start with a video explaining how to read co-ordinates and then move on to explaining we would write co-ordinates. Learners will then be shown a map of a pirate island and asked to locate certain treasures. This class will also look at direction of...
Students will learn how to read and write co-ordinates from a grid. Students will learn the key vocabulary, axis, origin, co-ordinate, position, direction, North, East, South and West. Students will plot a route for the Pirate to find certain treasure using the language: 2 squares North, 3 squares West etc.
1 file available upon enrollmentThere will be sheets that need to be printed before the lesson for each learner. Paper and pencil/pens will need to be available for the learner.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
